Sonic Advance 2 Info & Video - Vector 9/20/02
| I translated Sega Of Japan's Sonic Advance 2 page and found a few tidbits.
 
Here are 2 pics that aren't on Sonic Team's page. Notice the Amy icon that shows up again, and what looks like a Chao Garden mini-game involving Cream and Cheese.
The site claims that Sonic Advance 2 will be "6 times" as big as Sonic Advance. Cream is described as a "beginner" character.
You can also see a VERY impressive video there. The video's character select screen seems to confirm that there are exactly 4 playable characters in the game. It's only up at certain times of day. The video reveals some very interesting stuff, so be sure to check it out.
According to Sonic Team's page, the game will be released on December 19, 2002, in Japan. ST again promises a game 6 times as large, and boasts "The fastest speediness in history."
Also from Sonic Team's page:
"In each character, it is an original action a large number addition! It is new. [Trick action] ‚ðŽg‚¦‚Î -- it can go apparently, and it does not go to the place which is not likely to be or does not take -- or [ that a hand also reaches a ring ]"
This broken translation COULD mean that each character takes their own path in each level, according to your interpretation.

Amy In Sonic Advance 2 - Vector 9/20/02
| The game isn't even out yet, and already a "beta" mystery. One of the pics Buzzbomber found reveals that Sonic Team DEFINITELY, at the least, made some Amy graphics for use with Sonic Advance 2.
In this pic, that 1-UP icon is clearly Amy.
It seems pretty likely that Amy was at least seriously considered as a character in Sonic Advance 2.

Apparently, this character can use Cheese as a weapon. (Feel free to use this phrase out of context for amusement. :P)

A new Sonic character? - Buzz Bomber 9/19/02
| Some new Sonic Advance 2 screens were recently released on the Japanses version of the official Sonic Team website. In these screens, there is a new female rabbit (?) character, which is apparantly followed by a chao, and is seems has the ability to glide or fly with her ears.

S.A.G.E (Sonic Amateur Games Expo) 5 - Luckett X 9/14/02
Its the Sonic Fangaming event of the year! S.A.G.E, the online Sonic Amateur Games Expo is an event which allows all Sonic fangamers from their communities to show off their hard work and creativity in an online 'expo' or sorts.
This year, original games are also featured, as long as they were influenced by Sonic games.

S.A.G.E commences at some stage on Monday 16th September. Only a weekend away! This year, I have been put in command of the event, and I have pulled out all the stops to make it one of the most innovative and entertaining online events yet.

As to their actual purpose for S.A.G.E, you'll have to visit on the 16th find out!
IN previous years there have been many online chats, SAGEcasts (online radio shows from SAGE visitors and staff) and of course, many game demo's to download. In my opinion, a few of the current best fangames actually eclipse Sonic Advance in playability and graphics. They truly are amazing!
Anyway, basically, theres the hype, take it or leave it :P

Mega Collection & Sonic Advance 2 Japanese Release Date - True Red 9/6/02
| Sega of Japan reveals that both games will be available on the same day.
Sega of Japan has announced that both Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube and Sonic Advance 2 for the Game Boy Advance will be available on December 19 in Japan. Sonic Mega Collection includes several classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball, and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Sonic Advance 2 lets players assume the role of Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles as they travel through several new worlds.

BTW, it's most likely that it's coming out next year, as a Sega stockholders' report said that a new Sonic game would release in 2003. |
