Sega Brings Old Sonic - Platform Player 7/2/02
From IGNCube:

The company clarifies which "new" Sonic title is GCN bound.

July 02, 2002 - Yesterday Sega announced that it would deliver GameCube owners two new Sonic branded titles. The first, Sonic Mega Collection, would appear to be a compilation of classic Sonic games. The other, originally called a new Sonic Adventure title by Sega, is in fact not the case at all, according to the firm.

Sega clarified earlier today that its US and Japanese branches had a "miscommunication" yesterday and that the previously announced upcoming Sonic Adventure title is really a port of Sonic Adventure 1 to GameCube.

Sonic Adventure 1 first appeared on Sega's ill-fated Dreamcast console in September of 1999, already making the offering nearly three years out of date. The title, which neatly situated Sonic the Hedgehog into smooth-rolling 3D environments and injected lots of speed into the fairly straightforward play mechanics, earned a modest 8.6 rating by our notoriously overzealous sister site IGN Dreamcast.

When asked what changes would be made to the title for its GameCube debut, Sega said that it could not offer specifics at this point in time.

More as it develops.

A Little SatAM Related News. - Ronic Warihog 7/2/02
Hello.

I was just over at FUS, and apparently, it looks as if there will be more Sonic SatAM DVD's on the way. Sonique Hedgehog had written a letter to DiC Entertainment's Don Gold, looking for information on the subject, and got this reply.

"Hi. Yes, there will be more Sonic DVD's coming. Hopefully by the end of the year.

She also went on to ask, for confirmation's sake, which series it would be from, either AoStH, SatAM, or SU, and Don replied, "No problem. From Sonic the Hedgehog."(SatAM's actual title)

Now, it is not known exactly which eps will be next for release, but I'd be safe to say that the eps from the "Hooked On Sonics" tape that was released as part of the original set of SatAM tapes in the Spring of 1994 will be involved somehow.

Well, that's it for me for now. Credit goes to Fans United for SatAM for this information, and to Sonique for posting the story to begin with.

I'm out. See ya!

New Sonic games bound for GameCube, GBA - Virus AJG 7/1/02
This info comes from Gamespot:

The next installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and more are coming Nintendo's platforms.

Sega has announced that it will release the next installment in its Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for the GameCube. According to a representative from Sega of America, the game will be a brand-new addition to the franchise instead of a remake of the original Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, as was first suspected. In addition, Sega is also developing Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube and Sonic Advance 2 for the Game Boy Advance.

"Building upon the excellent worldwide sales and incredible success of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic Advance, Sega is determined to develop and release new titles in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that will appeal to the growing audience of gamers worldwide," said Tetsu Kayama, chief operating officer, Sega Corporation.

While no details on the games have been disclosed, Sonic Advance and Sonic Mega Collection are expected for a release within this year in Japan. Both games will also be showcased at the upcoming World Hobby Fair held later this month in Japan.

Sonic Team also announced that Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the GameCube and Sonic Advance for the Game Boy Advance have shipped 1 million copies each worldwide.

This page I just linked you to should explain all. Thanks for listening.

SVTcc (Comic Convention) - Sonic Adventurer 6/19/02
Hello, ladies and germs. This is SA speaking of the SonicVerse Team. I recently announced a big event that'll take place three times a year. It's an online comic convention called SVTcc. Of course, the name is pending upon it's first event so we'll see how that goes. But anyway, for those of you who want to get an idea, refer to the past few SAGE events (for those of you who are famliare with SAGE).

SVTcc will commence starting this December and from there it'll take place every March, June and December. Basically, this is an open event/contest that'll span for two weeks. Anybody who creates fan comic can enter. You are required to make your own booth (like in SAGE) using your own webspace (sorry, I'm not offering any due to the already many hosted sites).

All your booths will be linked back to the main SVTcc page under the booths section. When the event opens, people will come and look around. It'll be the biggest fan comic event ever with a GREAT sum of comics to look through. At the end of their reading, they'll vote for their favorite comics (by category) and at the end of the two weeks, the polls will be counted and winners will be issued with small custom awards handed out.

We already have Other-M, Shadow the Comic, Sonic Shadows, Christine Chong's comic and SU2 signed up for this event, to name a few. I'd like to see the Sonic Ideal, and others join in on this. You don't have to have a team, you don't have to have a comic series, it could even be just comic strips. They'll all be classified into categories.

In closing, I just want to mention that I'm going to be opening the SVTcc page tomarrow with instructions on how to sign up and details on the event. I hope that word of this reaches out to as many people as possible so we can make this event big. I'll announce the url of the SVTcc page tomarrow. Till then, sleep well people!

Re: 'Will the real Shadow the Hedgehog please stand up?' by Sonique - KojiChao 6/16/02
OK, I know right off the bat that this is most likely in the wrong area, but I couldn't find any real email address of a news caddy to contact. Please forgive me.

Anyways, I wanted to say, that while I am grateful that the rest of the Sonic Community is getting to hear about what they never knew in SA2, I'm afraid that the 'clones' idea may be a far bit off. It may have been an error in my translations, but there was one word in the original document that troubled me. It was the word, 'pieces'. It was contained in the last paragraph I was translating, which was at about 5am in the morning. I didn't quite understand what the document meant when it talked about 'Shadow', 'copy' and 'pieces'.

The more I think of this, the more I read what other people thought of this, as they are taking the 'clones' idea a bit too far. I was rather joking about that issue, seems the new Star Wars movie, 'Attack of the Clones' came out recently. I'm sure some person who can read/write and speak Japanese fluiently, as well as English, is laughing at my feeble efforts. ^_^; But, perhaps that last part actually explained that GUN captured the Hedgehog from the pieces(wreakage) of his capusle that hit the planet.

I'm sorry, again, for finding the wrong place to post this, but, I thought I'd try to clear up some things because EVERYONE seems to be off on a tangent, believing Shadow is a clone, now...when I was actually reffering to Sonic as the one who may have been Shadow's clone.

Think about it. Seems Professor Gerald might have been one of the only people to work on the Immortality Research project, he may have also been one of the only people in the world who could 'clone' something. And while GUN had Shadow, they tried many expiraments, and perhaps finally managed in trying to create a clone of him. Or, someone else made a clone of him at one point, if they managed to find something of Shadow's from the crash, and used it to create a clone. -- Point I'm getting at, is I don't think Shadow was a clone. Rouge is just a very big skeptic.

Naka Interview - Vector 6/15/02
Another heads up from Zifei. There's a new interview with Yuji Naka on the net, but it doesn't have to do with Sonic Team. Naka won a contest held by Japanese car dealer Cornes to promote their new "instant delivery" Ferrari service. The interview is here, but it's in Japanese, so have a translator ready. Xen Gamers has a summary of the details here.

The TRUTH About Sonic Xtreme, and Sonic Xtreme music! - Sonique Hedgehog 6/14/02
Anyone remember the canceled game Sonic Xtreme that was orginally for 32X, then switched to Saturn THEN switched again to PC and was ultimately canned? What? You didn't now of the PC port? WEEELLL then I supposed you don't know about it's plan to use the NiGHT's engine? Well now you can!

Blaze Hedgehog caught up with the man in charge of the project, Mike Wallis himself! PACHUKA of Sonic Cult performed an interview and found many o interesting things about Sonic Xtreme, including the REAL reason it was canned. The interview can be read on This Page and also on the main page is some actuall music from Sonic Xtreme, which was provided by Chris Senn who was in charge of the PC port.

I know what you're all thinking. DO we get a copy? I will say it's possible, but the Chris Senn interview isn't complete yet, but he IS thinking about it. Stay tuned to Sonic Cult for more info.
