However, 'Buttnik has created some robotic competition of his own... A pretty good story except that the fight scene seems more like one of those choreographed movie fights than a real one, partially due to the fact that the Freedom Fighters kept making witty snide comments after every blow without tiring or losing breath. | Eggman attacks the only human-inhabited place on Mobius, Pritchard Island, to steal the gems there in order to take over the world. The island's guardian, Samuel Pritchard, finds the Knothole Freedom Fighters and Knuckles, seeking their help in reclaiming the stolen gems which Robotnik has hidden in various Zones.
The writing is extremely choppy and the grammar and word choice can be bad, making this story unintentionally funny at times. There's very little characterization or description; this story is an action adventure all the way. The hybrid universe is original, and the action scenes take advantage of it. Marble Rain! Wooo!
Some minor cursing and um, blood makes this story PG instead of G. Aw well.

First of all, I have to say that this is NOT a bad story. However, there are a few things that stick out that detract from my enjoyment. The way Sonic & Tails act throughout, unfortunately, doesn't FEEL like Sonic & Tails at several points. I can understand what the authors were getting at in why they're acting as they are, but the way it's done seems too sudden with no real build-up to it. As well, what happens to one particular character comes off as not having that much impact because that is, really, the only thing DONE with that character in the story. It's hard to say what that is without giving spoilers, unfortunately... Plus, the the characters act towards the end at one point feels inappropriate for the events that had just taken place.
Again, though, this is NOT to say this is a bad story. I still recommend checking it out, as it's not often these days one can find a story this long that really tries to tell a coherent, good story. :) There's just a few aspects I felt could have been a bit more polished, these aspects mostly being the characterization.

| Sonic and Tails find a new ally, Dawn, on a scouting mission. The plot seems okay, but Dawn has some trouble portraying characters correctly. Dawn isn't very familiar with Sonic because he doesn't get the comics where he lives. Dawn portrays the FFs as a military group like the Rebel Alliance, when actually, all they are is a family that has to fight for what it believes in, which is why this story, like his other ones, turned out pretty screwed up. And having Dawn always saying, "Force speed!" and "Force jump!" gets really annoying. But the Eggman insults near the end were pretty funny. Zero: Part 1 by Zero Prower 6/18/02 | Rating: 0 | Content: PG | 11 KB | Zero Prower's first fanfic, so welcome him to the HQ! This is what is commonly known as a deathfic. It basically talks about how the Knothole Freedom Fighters, along with fan characters Spartacus the badger and Zero Prower the kitsune, investigate Sonic's untimely demise in Robotnik's trap. Naturally, being a first fic, there are cliches like, well, the whole death thing (though to be fair this is more of a subgenre than a cliche), and various self-insertion gimmicks (Zero being Tails' brother who's good at everything with a Freedom Fighter who's in love with him)... but the writing is not bad at all.
