No 3D Sonic at E3? Six brand new Sega games anounced, Sonic Heroes continues to sell.... - Sonicfan 4/6/04
No Sonic at E3?

As the title clearly states, Sega will be presenting six brand new, currently unknown games at this years E3. It has been confirmed from the top business eggheads at Sega that a new Sonic game will not be among them. Quite a change from last years "Sonic Year" proclamation from Sega. It is rumored that at least some of these games will be the first Sega games to come to the upcoming PSP and Nintendo DS handhelds, but this has not been confirmed. "You'll have to wait and see." said the spokesperson. So, in other words, we'll have more info from Sega when E3 starts.

Sega has confirmed, however, that they will be showing no Sammy games at E3. "There are currently no plans for Sammy Japan titles at E3," said the spokesperson. "It's mainly an SOE and SOA show. Sega Japan is distributing for Sammy, and at the moment we're only distributing for Sammy in Europe."

The lack of a 3D Sonic game is most certainly not because of poor sales on Sonic Heroes part, however. The game has managed to move 400,000 units in it's first two months on all three platforms in the United States, and the game has retained itself in the top four in the UK since it's launch on January 27th. This definetly equals a lot of incoming income on Sega's part.

We will have more info when DcD goes to E3, which starts next month.

Looks like we may not be seeing a new 3D Sonic game this year. Oh well, at least we're getting Sonic Advance 3, eh?

More Sonic X Stuff - Vector 4/1/04
Acid and VCP have found more info on the new season of Sonic X.

Acid:

I think Vec seems to be mistaken. It's not Sonic who would be actually fighting with Chris and company but Sonic's grandson Speedster who would be carrying on the torch since Sonic will be too old to fight. All the other furries' grandchildren will also aid in the fight and have wacky adventures together.

I also think they are renaming it Sonic X: Next Generation.

VCP:

And you both forgot to mention one of the new villains, Dr Eggkid, Eggman's smart-mouthed son whose number one goal in life is to prove himself as the "coolest kid in the universe", which is why he has such a great rivalry with Speedster and Flyboy (Tails' three tailed grandson).

Sonic X premieres on scandinavian fox kids - Lisa Echidna 3/29/04
Scandinavian Sonic fans, rejoice! Sonic X will begin airing on Fox Kids on April the 5th, 15:50 (GMT+01:00), dubbed to Swedish, Norweigan and Danish. I also checked out some of the other european Fox Kids-sites (http://www.foxkidseurope.com), and it seems that some countries have already aired the show (like France), while others haven't - yet (like Germany).

It's only my guess, but I think basically every country will get to see Sonic X dubbed in their own language.

Sonic Heroes hits 400,000 in total sales! - Sonicfan 3/16/04

Source ~DcD

The Febuary numbers and in, and they're looking sweet. Yes, Sonic Heroes continues to be the driving force behind Sega's console line up, with Kunoichi (or Night Shade, as Sega of America likes to call it) not even touching the top 20. While the sales for Sonic Heroes on GC have gone down signifigantly since since January, PS2 and Xbox sales more than pick up the slack. Here is a list for sales on all three platforms for Febuary:

PS2: 84,098

Gamecube: 76,506

Xbox: 36,544

This adds up to: 197,148 units.

After doing some more simple math, adding the January sales of 199,032 units, the total amount of Sonic Heroes units sold in it's first two months is: 396,180 units. In other words, Sonic Heroes sold a loooot of games, as that is nearly half of what Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, one of the best selling games of all time, has sold since it launched. It should prove interesting to see how Sonic Heroes fairs on all 3 major platforms in the coming months. Who knows, it might be the first 3D Sonic game to sell over 1 million at this rate. Of course, that's just a wild hope.

This information was gathered by NPD Funworld.
