Summary
US Title: "Skirmish in the Sky"
The episode starts out with Amy yelling at Sonic because she can never see him. Sonic however is holding a cell phone and tells them to leave a message as he takes off running. Amy only wants him to be alone with him.
Later that day Ella is driving on the freeway and Chris wonders why Sonic won’t take the cell phone. Tails, Amy, and Cream assure Chris that no matter what Sonic has a way of showing up when they need him the most. They stop at a mall to go shopping as Amy tries on various dresses Chris and Tails are looking at toys. However, Tails notices that everyone is staring at him and a kid pulls him off by his tails. The mother apologizes and tells everyone that Tails is real. Later while trying to eat everyone stands around them and when pictures start being taken they decide to head to a private room.
Up in the VIP room however, things do not go any better as the people there also get hassled as the people start feeling on the group. Amy finally yells at them to go away getting really upset as everyone wants to go home.
At the ruins of Eggman’s base they are beginning to clean up the dirt and mess when they find a pair of steel doors. Suddenly the ground opens up and the people run off to avoid the falling metal. Up from the dust rises a giant air ship that slowly rises into the sky. As the engines are put into place the clean-up crew stands in awe as Eggman launches his new control center telling him that he was always expecting an attack from the president. Bocoe and Decoe make jokes about his weight and finally Eggman orders to head to Station Square. The mayor is notified and watches in horror as Eggman approaches.
Meanwhile Chris apologizes to the group about being hassled when he suddenly spots Eggman’s new base. As the ship flies over the city Eggman decides to destroy the entire city and rebuild his headquarters. He sends out a demolition crew that begins to smash the city. As the group goes to run for the car a wrecking ball smashes it and they are cornered by the demolition crew. At that time Sonic shows up and begins to destroy the robots one by one. Using a building he stops on top of it and goes to take out the new fortress. Eggman fires some missiles at him but Sonic just leads them through the city destroying more of the demolition robots until he uses the building as a ramp to launch himself at the air ship, however he comes up short.
Out of nowhere Sam appears and using his speed races them home to try and get the X Tornado. Meanwhile Sonic is racing through the city trying to avoid a group of air ship that are firing at him. They stay on his tail until he jumps up on one and tries to fly it towards the base. Eggman orders the robots to self-destruct and using the boost Sonic grabs onto the ship, however he cannot hold onto it and slides off creating a massive screeching noise through the entire city before falling again.
Eggman then launches a barrage of spheres that keep on Sonic’s tail firing lasers. On the roads the spheres appear around Sam and almost fire on them until Stuart appears and using a mirror deflects the beams back at the spheres. As Sam tries to boast, Amy remind him that they need to get home and grabbing Stuart the overloaded car is attacked by the spheres again. As the car is almost attack a large truck, driven by Tanaka takes them out. Inside the trailer is the X Tornado, which is quickly launched and sends a ring towards Sonic taking out the spheres.
With the order to blast away, Tails is forced to take evasive action. Chris tells them that they need to get away from the city to save the people. They manage to turn the ship around with Bocoe and Decoe wondering why he is even bothering to go after Sonic. With Eggman in chase he charges up the main cannon, which the X Tornado just barely escapes with major damage to the main energy circuit.
Knowing that the plan can only fly for a little longer, Sonic tells them to fly full speed at the bridge of the plane. Sonic grabs two rings from the plan and using their power he jumps off the X Tornado before Eggman can fire the cannon and takes out the bridge. They are forced to abandon the new ship as it sinks into the ocean. The X Tornado lands on an airship and Chris worries that they will be fighting Eggman for a long time. The episode ends with the group staring off at the explosion and the people hoping that Sonic will win. |
