    General Info
    Intro
This game is one of the harder of the bunch as it consists of the Underground Zone, complete with one of the hardest sonic bosses, Sky High Zone, Aqua Lake Zone, a return to the Green Hills Zone, Gimmick Mountain Zone, The Scrambled Egg Zone and the return of the Silver Sonic, and Robotnik's newest creation and Tails' holding cell...The Crystal Egg Zone!!!

    Story

After saving South Island from Robotnik's first assault, things have been too quiet for comfort. So, Sonic the Hedgehog left the island to find other adventures around Mobius! Upon his return, he discovered that all of his friends were gone. Confused, he went back to his digs to think, and finds a note from Tails! Robotnik had made Tails write the note, which commanded Sonic to collect the six Chaos Emeralds and bring them to him if he ever wanted to see his friends again....Welcome to Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the second Sonic game to appear on Game Gear as well as the first Game Gear game featuring Miles "Tails" Prower! But Tails isn't playable - why? Doctor Robotnik has returned and since his defeat in Sonic 2 for Genesis he's wanted revenge on the duo that destroyed the prototype Death Egg! Tails has been captured by Doc Robotnik and it is your job as Sonic to rescue your best friend from the evil doctor's clutches!

    Cheats
    The Unlimited Life Cheat
There are two 1-ups in Act 1 of the Sky Hill Zone. To get to the first one, pass the bridge, jump over the two sets of spikes, ignore the Ring Monitor and the spring. Finally, jump over one more set of spikes to grab the 1-up. Go back and jump on the spring, then walk into the horizontal spring, which will roll you through the bricks. You'll reach two more springs. Jump on the vertical spring, and you see another spring. Jump on this one, and hold left on the directional pad until you see a patch of ground with Christmas trees in the background. You'll then see another 1-up. Take it, let yourself die, and then repeat this process until you max out on lives.

    Tricks
    Continue Containment
For every 2nd act on Sonic 2, there are secret crystals that will get you 3 extra lives. You usually have to find them between gnooks and crannies. When you die and get a GAME OVER, it will ask you if you would like to continue. Then it will let you play again with 3 lives to start with on the same level you died on.
